Vocal has collaborated with people with musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions and researchers from the NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre to raise awareness of MSK conditions and research.

For many stem cell transplant patients, there is no ‘return to normality’. 74% of surveyed patients said they had worse mental health as a result of the pandemic, with others reporting feeling anxious, frustrated and afraid. 

Every day, transplant patients are faced with tough choices about if and how they can return to work and public spaces whilst still protecting themselves from coronavirus.

New Stoptober Better Health campaign encourages people across the nation to quit smoking this autumn.

It's never too late to quit, so join the thousands of people stop smoking this October. You can do this!

One Manchester are currently inviting applications to their Social Recovery Fund and are looking to offer grants of between £2,000 and £10,000 (from a total fund of £50,000) to rebuild and grow new connections in our communities.

One Manchester want to hear from organisations that help isolated people in our community to make friends and socialise in their community, to get them the help they need, when they need it.

BeeWell is an exciting new initiative spearheaded by the University of Manchester and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority to make young people’s wellbeing everybody’s business.

They are currently looking for a passionate and dedicated project officer to make their programme tick. The role will involve everything from supporting high-profile events to engaging with young people to organising meetings and making our social media and website on point.

Stoptober is here!  

This October is, Stoptober and we would like to encourage regular smokers to smoke.
 
Did you know that every year around 78,000 people die from smoking in the UK? One of the main causes of death and disease in the UK is smoking. 
 
Here is some information to educate everyone on what the different health risks of smoking are. 

 What are the health risks of smoking? 

• Cancer 
  Smoking causes cancer in various parts of the body like the stomach, throat, mouth, liver, and pancreas. Around 7 out of every 10 cases of lung cancer are caused by smoking.  
• Heart damage 
  Your heart and blood circulation are damaged by smoking, raising the likelihood of developing conditions such as stroke, heart attack and coronary heart diseases.  
• Lung damage  
  Also, smoking damages your lungs, leading to conditions such as pneumonia and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.  (National Health service 2018) 
  

Help is available to stop smoking. Always remember it is never too late to quit. Let us do this!
