It is Flu Season, wrap up warm! Winter has arrived, which means flue season and it is important we wrap up warm and take care of our health.
Here some tips to identify the source of your flu and some remedies help:- First of all, right now it is vital to take a test even if you are vaccinated or you have already caught the virus because you could still be spreading the virus to other people. Generally, the source of cough are virus and bacteria infecting the respiratory system (cold or flu virus more commonly). It is advised to rest a lot and drink a lot of fluids.
To relief the pain it is suggested to try paracetamol or ibuprofen, hot lemon and honey and herbal medicine (suitable for people aged 12 or over). You can also ask your pharmacist about a cough syrup, medicine, and cough sweets that will help you to cough less. To stop the cough, decongestants and cough medicine containing codeine are the go-to. See a GP is you have a cough for more than 3 week or if it affects you in the following ways: gives you chest pain, you lose weight, the side of your neck feels swollen and painful, you find it hard to breath or you have a weakened immune system. See a GP urgently if you are coughing up blood. (National Health Service NHS, 2019) Which one of our tips will you try out this week?
