'Meet the Funder' webinar scheduled for later this week, hosted by the Greater Manchester Black Asian & Minority Ethnic Network.

This online session is a chance to find out about The Global Majority Fund grants programme - supporting the Caribbean and African Community in Greater Manchester. 

This grants programme is funded by the Comic Relief Global Majority Fund with additional contributions from Salford CVS, One Manchester, and Trafford Housing Trust and administered on behalf of Caribbean & African Health Network (CAHN) by Macc.

This Tuesday, 25th May - in this monthly 'Tending to Ourselves session', Stephanie de Wolfe will lead us in a creative writing exercise to explore our identities and ground us in our senses.

Inspired by Audre Lorde's essays The Uses Of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power and Poetry is Not a Luxury, this will be an opportunity to use writing as a conduit to embodiment and self-discovery, connecting with our full sensory capacities and creative selves.

Tending to Ourselves is a monthly space in the Healing Solidarity Collective on the last Tuesday of each month.

Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA)

Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is consulting on a new Greater Manchester Homelessness Prevention Strategy.

Homelessness in all forms has increased in Greater Manchester since 2010 and tackling homelessness and rough sleeping is a key priority for GMCA and organisations across Greater Manchester.

This strategy aims to tell us what the future of preventing homelessness should look like. Please complete the survey below to share you feedback and ideas.

We already know that not every patient has access to the same level of support, and we want to better understand how the pandemic has affected stem cell transplant patients who are from minority ethnic backgrounds.

Lived Experience Expert Advisors needed for the Adult Mental Health Team

The Adult Mental Health Team at NHS England and NHS Improvement are looking to recruit Expert Advisors with Lived Experience to be part of an Advisory Network to help shape, influence and develop national adult mental health policy. The Team is looking for individuals from ethnic minority communities, especially from a Black African or Caribbean background, to ensure the Advisory Network is representative and captures diverse voices.

Transport for Greater Manchester

Since Monday 17th May 2021, individuals, schools, community groups, sports teams and volunteer organisations can bid to Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) to win one of several yellow school buses that will be decommissioned from the existing fleet in July 2021. 

Interested groups have until Friday 18th June 2021 to submit their proposal online before the applications are considered and the winning entries announced.  

North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) Opportunities

Have your say in ambulance services by joining the Patient and Public Panel North West Ambulance Service (NWAS), which has established its Patient and Public Panel (PPP) in September 2019 and now has a diverse membership of nearly 150 members of the public from across the North West.

The PPP gives patients and the public an opportunity to share their views and help shape NWAS’ emergency, patient transport and 111 services. Would you like to be involved too?

Membership is open to anyone who lives in Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire, Cumbria or Glossop (Derbyshire), isn’t currently employed by NWAS and is 16 or over. Applications are welcome from people of all backgrounds, beliefs, cultures and circumstances to ensure the panel is representative of the diverse communities served by North West Ambulance Service.

Scheduling your meals and snacks for the day will help you build a healthy diet and maximise your digestive health while preventing the development of cardiovascular heart disease and obesity. 

Your body processes foods at specific points in the day so, assisting your body with the appropriate nutrients will help you function better. Knowing what you plan to eat also helps to reduce waste and saves money too!

In the same way, you would plan the activities you do in the day is the same way you can plan when and what you will eat. So maybe breakfast can be 8 am every day and lunch at 1 pm when you finish a task- it’s all up to you.
