CAHN's Health Hour last week, Saturday 14th August - focused on the "Hypertension causes and management".

Join our weekly sessions on Tuesdays at 6pm-7pm and ask your questions during the event.

CAHN is pleased to announce that it has begun its Disability Confident journey by being awarded Level 1 Disability Confident Committed.

This will see CAHN sign up to 5 commitments and undertake at least one activity to make a difference to disabled people.

CAHN will work closely with Black led and Disability organisations, to identify disabled people who can gain employment skills through a work experience programme.

Joining the Disability Confident community means that CAHN will be ensuring that all its recruitment and selection processes are inclusive, and an interview guarantee scheme will be introduced for disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria.

CAHN will continue to ensure all the 5 commitments are embedded across CAHN, with the view that work will commence towards achieving accreditation for level 2 – Disability Confident Employer.

You will now see the Disability Confident Committed logo on all of CAHN’s promotional and marketing materials relating to recruitment, selection and workforce issues.

Our CAHN Healthy Hearts sessions will not be held for the remaining weeks this month.

 CAHN is working with Good Finance to improve access to information on social investment education.  

Your feedback will be used to design a programme of engagement activities around social investment, sustainability and innovation.

Are you or anyone you know a Stem Cell Transplant patient from the BAME community? We want to interview you or this other person to hear about your experience accessing health services during the pandemic.

CAHN is supporting Anthony Nolan and other partners - to conduct a research study that will help improve the care and the support for these patients.

One Manchester are recruiting for their next cohort of Kickstart roles, including 25 paid job placements covering everything from ground maintenance to finance, HR to customer service, project assistant to administration and many more.

These are for those aged 16-24 claiming Universal Credit, and the roles are 25 hours a week for 6 months.

Keeping our air environmentally friendly is vital

Air pollution is a massive environmental risk to health. By reducing air pollution levels, countries can reduce the burden of disease from - stroke, heart disease, lung cancer, and chronic and acute respiratory diseases, including asthma. 
 
Air Pollution is a major environmental crisis to health - minimising air pollution levels globally. It helps fight diseases such as lung cancer.

Protecting our ozone layer keeps us all safe from harmful air that causes breathing difficulties and lung disease. (World Health Organisation, 2018).

How can we improve our air quality? 

We can start by:-

• Use our vehicles less
• We can take public transportation, ride a bike, or walk whenever possible
• Use cleaner fuels and more fuel-efficient products
